Grantham Journal letters: No one seems to know of MIU

I have been asking my entire social circle to see how many people of my acquaintance knew that we had a Minor Injuries Unit that is available when A and E is shut of an evening.

Not a single person knew of its existence, even some doctor friends! You have to ring 111 and ask them to make an appointment. Until I read your article, I was unaware that even 111 didn’t know of the existence of the MIU.

No wonder no one uses this very valuable (not to mention expensive) service. It will be closed through lack of use because no one knows it is
there, not because no one needs it.

There is a sign up outside the hospital that points to the Out of Hours unit. Where is this, when is it open and how do you access it? I believe it to be another 111 related department but who is to know?

More information please for us, the public who need the hospital.
