Motocross circuit closed following fatal collision




The owners of a motocross circuit at Gonerby Moor have closed it for a week following the death of a rider on Sunday.

The man, in his 20s, died in a collision with another rider at the Moto101 circuit. The second rider was seriously injured. Both men came from Derbyshire.

On its Facebook page, Moto101 said: "Devastated to be posting something like this ....

"On Sunday 2nd June a fatality occurred at Moto101. If any other riders or spectators that were at the track have any video evidence e.g GoPro footage or from spectators viewing bank please can you get in touch.

"Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of those involved and with the upmost respect we will be closed this week.

"All we ask is please can you all respect the family and friends of those involved at this very sad time!"

Police say they were called to the track at 12.34pm on Sunday.

They said two men in their 20s, both from Derbyshire, were seriously injured and one did not survive his injuries. Family members have been informed.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and say they are aware that there may be footage of the collision.

Police are also asking for Go-Pro footage and any mobile phone recordings of the incident.

If anyone has footage of this incident, they should contact the police quoting incident 209 of June 2.
