A new mum has found the perfect job to enable her to look after her young sons while selling innovative jewellery.

Catherine Clark, of Reedings Road, Barrowby, is taking all the skills she gained in sales working for the BBC and putting them to use selling designer-led jewellery as a Stella & Dot stylist.

The US-based company was set up by a relative of Grace Kelly, and as well as selling a range of jewellery and accessories inspired by the style icon, the business model creates entrepreneurial opportunities for women by hiring them as stylists.

For Grantham-raised Catherine, who is now busy being a mum to six-month-old Edward and Joseph, aged three, with support from husband Steven, the chance to work at hours which suit her is ideal.

“You just pick out the jewellery you think will sell, order it, and then hold what are known as ‘trunk shows,’” explains the 38-year-old.

At trunk shows, individuals or groups of potential customers are invited to a venue, including at one of their own homes if they so choose, and they can browse the jewellery and accessories on offer and decide if they want to buy. “Some customers even like to turn the trunk shows into parties and invite friends, which I encourage as that is the heart of the trunk shows!

“There’s no charge for holding a trunk show and no pressure to buy. The idea is that you can try the jewellery on first. With clothes you can try them on in a shop, but jewellery is normally packaged,” adds Catherine.

She has also been amazed herself at the clever designs of the jewellery available, including necklaces with optional pendant lengths, and earrings that convert from drop to studs. There are also purses, bags and scarves on offer.

Following a launch at the Eden House Hotel in Grantham last weekend, Catherine is now available for trunk show bookings by phoning 07887 534367 or emailing cannondutch@outlook.com
