Grantham pet store to host free pet workshops for kids this half term

Parents are being invited to take their children to fun, free workshops at Pets at Home this February half term.

The workshops will focus on caring for small furries, such as gerbils, hamsters and rabbits, teaching children how rewarding these pets can be and how to care for them.

The free workshops will run every day at 11.30am, as part of the My Pet Pals Activity Club, at all Pets at Home stores during the half term school holiday. Bookings can be made at petsathome.com/petworkshops.

Friendly and knowledgeable Pets at Home colleagues will be running the workshops, teaching children how to care for these animals responsibly, in a fun and interactive way. There’s also the chance for the children to meet and ‘greet’ these small, friendly animals.

Vicky Martin, store manager at Pets at Home Grantham, said: “Small furries like gerbils are active, sociable and low maintenance, making them an ideal first pet for kids. Our free in-store workshops are a chance for Grantham’s young pet lovers to learn more about them, and our colleagues will be on hand to offer tips and advice, whilst making the workshops fun, interactive and hands on.”

Children taking part will learn about the different needs of small and five welfare needs of small furries, including shelter, food and water, good health, appropriate company and the right living environment, which are all vital for keeping pets happy and healthy.
