Grantham’s Guildhall clock won’t strike midnight for New Year

While all around the world people will be waiting for clocks to reach midnight tomorrow and herald in 2015, Grantham’s iconic Guildhall clock will not mark that milestone.

This is because over the weekend its hands stopped at 10.25, and work to identify the cause and repair the clock will not be carried out until next week.

A South Kesteven District Council spokesperson said: “The clock requires repair and maintenance work from our contractors to make it operational.

“Due to the holiday period, this work will be arranged early next week with provisionally a repair carried out soon after.”
