Grantham slim club members will walk to beat cancer

A group of slimmers will be pounding the pavements as part of the ‘Walk All Over Cancer’ campaign, after 15 of its members have been diagnosed with breast cancer in recent months.

The members from Grantham’s Slimming World group, based at the Jubilee Church Life Centre, London Road, will embark on a three-and-half-mile walk from Grantham Squash Club on Harlaxton Road to The Dirty Duck in Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Joolie Cunningham, who has been a Slimming World consultant for nearly three years, said: “We organised the same walk back in March after eight of our members were diagnosed with breast cancer within a few weeks of each other. There are now 15 members who have been diagnosed. The walk caused such a buzz last time that we have decided to do it again and tie it in with the national Slimming World campaign.”

Although a definite date has not been confirmed yet, Joolie said it will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend.
