Grantham support group raises £200 to help arrythmia patients

Beat-It Grantham, a support group for people with arrhythmias, raised £200 at its Valentine’s Heartbeat event to continue to provide support and raise further awareness of the condition.

Hospital consultant Dr Andrew Houghton spoke on the need for everyone to know their pulse to ensure early detection of arrythmias so that they can then protect themselves against the risk of stroke which is increased

500 per cent in some cases.

Those attending were offered the opportunity of having their pulse checked by clinicians during the evening and further health checks carried out by the hotel’s leisure staff.

Founder and patient lead, Gini Dellow, said “The event was a great success with a fantastic turnout. A big thank you to Belton Woods Hotel for generously supporting this event, the clinicians and health club staff who gave up their time and The Sushi Cats Jazz ensemble who played so brilliantly during the evening. Beat-It Grantham is committed to working to provide all rounded support for arrhythmia and syncope patients in this area and now looks forward to welcoming all to our next meeting on March 4 at Grantham Hospital”
