Grantham's largest estate agency takes over lettings and sales business

Grantham’s largest estate agency Newton and Fallowell has acquired the sales and lettings business of Escritt Barrell and Golding (EBG).

Mark Newton, founder and managing director of Newton Fallowell, which is part of the Belvoir Group, confirmed the acquisition. Mr Newton said: “I am very happy to confirm that Newton Fallowell has acquired the sales and lettings portfolio of EBG.

"We will be transferring this business, along with existing staff members, to Newton Fallowell’s head office at 68 High Street, Grantham. EBG, which was founded in 1860, is the oldest independent agency in Grantham, and will not be disappearing off the High Street, but will be concentrating purely on the agricultural and commercial property side of its business.

“This is another exciting chapter in Newton Fallowell’s history, which is now firmly established as the largest estate agency in Grantham. This acquisition has added over 300 rental properties to our portfolio and I would like to reassure all of EBG’s clients of a very smooth transition period, during which we look forward to providing everyone with continued excellent service.”

EBG partner Stephen Short said: “Geoffrey Bishop and I, the current partners of EBG, are very pleased to have transferred the residential sales and lettings side of the company to the Belvoir Group, who we know will continue to provide a first class service to our many valued clients. The Grantham business will be merged with Newton Fallowell, and the Sleaford business will be transferred to Belvoir Sleaford, at 71 North Gate, Sleaford.”

Belvoir CEO Dorian Gonsalves said: “The acquisition of Escritt Barrell Golding Grantham, and Sleaford, which are recognised as very prestigious businesses in the local area, provides a fantastic opportunity for Newton Fallowell Grantham and also for Peter Atkinson, who has been a franchisee at Belvoir Sleaford for several years.

"The Belvoir Group, which began 24 years ago in Grantham, continues to go from strength to strength, and acquisitions are a major part of our growth strategy for this year and for the foreseeable future. We wish everyone concerned great success in their new ventures.”
