Frontline Fitness in Grantham hosts ‘really good’ crossfit competition




A Grantham gym hosted a crossfit competition had a “really good community” feel.

Frontline Fitness, home of CrossFitUnit5, hosted the crossfit competition day on Sunday, with 20 people taking part.

Members of the gym, which is based in Limesquare Business Park off Alma Park Road, were joined by people from Nixx Gym in Melton Mowbray.

Curtis Gardner, who runs Frontline Fitness with his partner Mel Gardner, said: “The event was really good.

“It was basically a test to see if the event worked, and it worked out really well with good numbers.

“We had food here as well, burritos, protein bowls, some snacks. Everybody loved it.

“It was a really good community with people spurring and cheering people on to finish the workout.”

There were three workouts across the day and the competitors were be split into two categories, elite and scaled, with divisions for male and females and prizes given to first and second place in each.

Curtis added: “A lot of people said it was brilliant and asked when the next one is.”

The next event will be in March, with an exact date still to be confirmed.

Curtis explained that more people will take part next time, and that the competition will be in mixed pairs, rather than for individuals.
