Grantham hair salons and barbers prepare to open
Hair salons and barbers are among the list of industries allowed to reopen from July 4.
This announcement would have come as a relief to many who have gone over 12 weeks without a haircut.
There will be others who are delighted that their own attempt at giving themselves a haircut can be rectified by a professional in the coming weeks.
Blunt Hairdressing, a hair salon based on Swinegate, has confirmed that it is ready to open on July 4.
It said: “There will be a few changes within the salon for the safety of clients and staff. We would appreciate it if you could adhere to these precautions we have put in place by wearing a mask, sanitising your hands on entry and keeping your coat and bags with you.”
Head Office Hair Designers, in Vine Street, has also confirmed it is reopening on July 4. Staff are contacting all customers who missed an appointment due to lockdown, while honouring any bookings they had previously for dates following July 4.
The House of Hair, on Westgate, also confirmed a July 4 reopening. The salon said: “We have tried to prioritise those who have had missed appointments due to Covid-19 lockdown, if we have not contacted you yet and you have had a missed appointment at the start of lockdown please give us a ring and we will try and accommodate you.”
Customers at House of Hair will pay a £3 charge to cover all PPE that is provided by the salon, including disposable gowns, towels and masks. They ask clients to arrive at their appointment on time and alone. No refreshments will be served but they encourage customers to bring their own.
Barber shops will also be reopening their doors next month.
One Cut Above, in Guildhall Street, said: “At long last we finally have the go ahead for reopening on 4 July. Things will be a little different.
“We have deep cleaned and freshened up the salon. To maintain social distancing and government guidelines we will be running an appointment system which is now open.
“Upon arrival we will ask a few health questions and give you a quick temperature check before hand sanitisation. You will then be escorted directly to your bubble. It would be preferable to wear a mask or face covering.
“Government regulations stipulate we must take full details, which we will keep on file for 21 days to assist track and trace if necessary.
“Children too young to attend by themselves can be accompanied by one adult only. Due to high demand for our services you must stick to your appointment time.”
