Following a debut EP which gained a place on both BBC Radio 1 and the iTunes singer songwriter top 20 charts, a 22-year-old from Grantham has released her new single and music video today.

Beth Frisby lives on the Sunningdale Estate, and her unique and haunting music has already caught the attention of Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, earning her airtime on his BBC Introducing show.

Her debut EP ‘Wandering Eyes’ also hit number 16 on the iTunes singer songwriter charts, and is followed by her new single ‘High’ released today along with its own music video.

A former pupil at Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School, Beth’s musical career began when she started playing the violin, before going on to study for a music degree in Nottingham. “It was at university that I realised I wanted to be a singer songwriter,” explains Beth. “Other people were telling me to go for it and pushing me to go further. A lot of people have invested their time and money to help me.”

Among those full of praise for Beth is owner of Cafe Leo, Jess Vincent, where Beth previously worked as a waitress. “Beth left about two years ago to follow her dream,” said Jess. “She’s an amazing girl.”

Beth who is signed to The Acoustic Roots Label, has worked with Harleighblu, One Bomb, The Invisible Orchestra, Frazer Lowrie and Firenza, and also has a number of festivals lined up for this year, including Nottingham’s Waterfront Festival in August.

Her music has been described as ‘dark pop’, with Beth inspired by numerous genres and in particular the electronic music and vocals of Ellie Goulding’s early work.

Her new single ‘High’ is available from today on iTunes for just 79p here with the video also available to watch on YouTube by clicking here
