Rising Star award winner Holly Humberstone wowed at The Brits with London Is Lonely
Award winner Holly Humberstone performed her new single London is Lonely in front of celebrated musicians at the 2022 Brit Awards.
The former Grantham schoolgirl, who had secured her win as the Brits' Rising Star before the ceremony, took to the stage at The O2 introduced by last year's Rising Star winner Griff.
In the crowd was Adele - who won four awards on the night, Ed Sheeran - who took home the songwriter of the year gong, and Little Simz who dedicated her Best New Artist award to her mum.
The event, which was also broadcast on ITV, immediately catapulted Holly into the next stage of her musical career netting her scores of new fans in the process.
The performance by the Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School pupil brought the huge arena to tears, according to a post on the Brit awards Twitter.
The Rising Star is definitely a one to watch category.
Previous winners include Adele, Sam Fender, Florence and the Machine and Ellie Goulding.
Speaking after collecting one of her four awards Adele told the crowd how proud she was of new artists.
She said: “And real artistry – I know I have spoken about it before – but there are so many new artists here. England, the UK, we have so many incredible new young artists coming up.
“Never lose sight of why you are who you are. The reason people are into you is because of something you have in you. Don’t let go of that ever."
When Holly won the award she told the BBC: "I'm kind of freaking out. I'm not processing it very well. But I'm just so so happy. I'm so chuffed. I'm on top of the world."
Late on Wednesday, she commented about the night on social media sharing two messages with her 14,900 Twitter followers, firstly of her red carpet look and then of her performance.
She said: "What a dream - thank you for having me @BRITs an absolute pleasure to perform last night xxx."
Last year Holly showcased her hit single Falling Asleep At The Wheel on the US-broadcast The Late Late Show with James Corden.
She played Glastonbury in 2019 and has also toured with pop sensation Lewis Capaldi.
