Home Bargains move to former Homebase site in Grantham is a step closer
A planned move by Home Bargains to the Dysart Retail Park has taken a step forward with councillors agreeing to a change of use for the former Homebase site.
South Kesteven District Council’s planning committee agreed on Wednesday that 30 per cent of the building off Dysart Road can now be used to sell food.
The applicant, Staffordshire County Council, agreed to remove food selling rights from some of the other units on the retail park to prevent any harm to Grantham town centre.
Members agreed with officer recommendations that the proposal would not harm Grantham town centre and would reoccupy an empty unit and create jobs.
A council report says some 50 jobs will be created.
Council leader Jacky Smith said: “We have to welcome it with open arms. It’s another empty vacancy filled.”
In May Home Bargains announced it was moving from its current site on Sankt Augustin Way.
