Leicester Hospitals Charity receives donation from a curry run at the Berkeley Arms in Wymondham

Villagers donated £872 to the Leicester Hospitals Charity when their pub landlord hosted a curry run.

Kumar Rakshit, the head chef and landlord at the Berkeley Arms in Wymondham, cooked up a venison curry for villagers after one of his customers donated a free deer.

Vernon Moore, who owns Moores Estate Agents, was joined by his sons Max and William recently to deliver 96 orders around the village.

Vernon said: "Max usually supplied venison to the pub and said he was happy to supply and prepare one for free.

"It started as an idea to deliver to vulnerable people who are self-isolating in the village but it grew from there and we ended up providing three deer."

Kumar has also given away excess stock and delivered free takeaways to villagers since the pub was forced to close because of coronavirus restrictions.
