I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at ULHT and Grantham

Grantham Journal column by Maxine Hughes, head of operations and clinical services at ULHT

After being at Grantham hospital for over 18 months now I will be moving on to pastures new. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at ULHT and in particular, at Grantham.

We all know that ULHT and the NHS as a whole is always changing and has a number of struggles to overcome but the one constant throughout healthcare in this country is how dedicated and hardworking those who work in it are.

Throughout my career it has amazed me what those who work in the NHS are capable of and at Grantham this is no different.

Some of my highlights of my time at Grantham have been:

  • Achieving green status on three wards in ward accreditation.
  • Direct admission to EAU out of hours for some patients.
  • Retaining ‘good’ rating from the CQC.
  • Supporting Grantham teams to increase elective orthopaedic capacity.

I leave feeling proud of what all the staff have achieved. I’d like to say thank you to all my colleagues for their commitment, perseverance and utter determination to deliver the best possible care to the people of Lincolnshire.
