Grantham College students to showcase town’s filming locations in new documentary
A new documentary will showcase some of the locations in our area to have featured on the big screen.
Steven Healey, of Grantham College, is working with his students to showcase sites in Grantham that have been featured in film or TV.
The idea first came about several years ago before Steven began working at the college.
“I did a bit of research when I started teaching and I produced a big map on the wall of what has been filmed in Lincolnshire, and there was a hell of a lot,” said Steven.
He added: “Then a documentary came out by TV critic Ali Plumb where he looked at filming locations in places like Glasgow.
“I then thought ‘he didn’t come to Grantham’, so I thought I would give it a go.”
Depending on permissions, Steven will work with the students to film at these places and showcase what was filmed there, the actors featured in the films and why Grantham was chosen as a location.
“It’s a student project and I would quite like to see how it turns out,” said Steven.
He added: “It will also be a good experience for the students. It’s just about sorting the logistics at the moment but we have written a script already.
“There is more to be scheduled here, but it’s to highlight it’s not always London or Hollywood that massive films have been filmed in, Grantham is included in this.”
It is hoped the film will be released later this year in August or September.
