Long Bennington mother writes second book after being inspired by imagination of her two sons
A Long Bennington mother will soon release her second children’s book.
Fleur Baxter has written a new book called ‘Monsters In Our Heads’, which is set to release on December 8.
The book is a follow up to her first effort, ‘The Boy Who Couldn’t Sleep’, which she penned in 2020.
Her son, Isaac, inspired the first tale, as he struggled to nod off, prompting years of sleepless nights for Fleur.
The sequel contains rhyming bedtime stories, and takes inspiration from the runaway imaginations of Isaac and his brother Arlo.
Fleur said: “Isaac didn’t sleep for four years and he only started sleeping better once he started school.
“Arlo had always slept soundly until his granddad died of a heart attack and he was with me when I tried to save his life.”
This month, Fleur will be visiting different venues around Long Bennington with the book, including the primary school, pre-school, Ayrshire House and the Gatehouse Coffee Shop.
Fleur works at Long Bennington Academy, helping children to practice their phonics and reading. She is also a midday supervisor.
“My boys whom the book is based on attend this school,” continued Fleur. “I am going to read to my book to the children in Key Stage 1 on December 8.
“I also work at Ayrshire House across the road and will be reading my book to the service users there and at the local preschool.
“My book will be stocked in the Gatehouse Cafe, also in the village and I will be popping along there.”
