Inter-generational playgroup at Newton House Care Home in Grantham brings together the young and old




A Grantham care home hosted a play-group which saw its residents join together with a group of children for some fun activities.

Newton House Care Home in Barrowby Road recently hosted an inter-generational playgroup for residents and members of the local community.

The event, which took place on Tuesday, welcomed a group of children from the Sweet Angels Childcare Service to enjoy music, games and activities with residents at the home.

The group of children also enjoyed sing along with residents to their favourite songs such as Wind the Bobbin Up, Wheels on the Bus and Old McDonald.

One resident named Margaret said: “Oh I do love to see the their little faces, always happy and big smiles.”

Newton House general manager, Sonia Fairhurst, said: “We invited the group to the home as a way to support the carers who visit our home who have young children, and the residents at our home had a lot of fun on the day, and love our young visitors.

“If anyone ever wants to stop in for a lovely afternoon with your young ones, or just for a cuppa and a break, we’d love to have you join us.”

Newton House Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare and provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for 120 residents from respite care to long term stays.
