King's School percussionist Josh to play in the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall

Year 11 King’s School student Josh Weir has received an invitation to perform in the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble at the First Night of the Proms on July 13.

Josh began playing the drums in primary school and is now working towards his Grade 8 Drum Kit exam. He plays with several school bands (including the Senior Percussion Ensemble), a number of Grantham Music Centre ensembles, and the Lincolnshire Youth Wind Ensemble.

Josh, who lives in Corby Glen, says he is very excited to have been invited to play with the BBC Proms Youth Ensemble. As well as playing at the Royal Albert Hall, Josh is looking forward to meeting the other students who will be taking part in the event, and he thinks that it will be inspiring watching the professional musicians perform.

Lincolnshire Music Service tutor Jon Richmond said: “I’m very pleased for Josh and looking forward to watching the concert on BBC2.”
