Trust which runs Grantham Hospital confirms three more patients have died of coronavirus at its hospitals
Three more patients have died of coronavirus at hospitals run by United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
A spokesperson for ULHT said: “Sadly we can confirm that three further patients who were being cared for in our hospitals, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.
“The patients were two men aged 82 and 88, and one woman aged 79. All had underlying health conditions.
“Their families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”
It means the death toll in Lincolnshire has increased to 65 and stands at 25 in northern Lincolnshire.
ULHT confirmed that three wards at Grantham are currently closed. A trust spokesman said: "Wards 1, 2 and 6 at Grantham Hospital are closed because there are no patients at the moment; we currently have empty beds across all of our sites."
ULHT chief executive Andrew Morgan told the Journal that he expected the peak in coronavirus cases to be later this month and that the trust's hospitals are prepared for it.
Coronavirus fatalities have reached 90 in Greater Lincolnshire’s hospitals with one more confirmed in Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.
Meanwhile, NHS England said a further 651 people who tested positive for coronavirus died across the country.
Patients were aged between 20 and 101 years old, and 20 of them had no known underlying health conditions.
