Lorry driver uses bottles of water to put out vehicle fire by A1 at Colsterworth




A lorry driver used bottles of water to put out a fire affecting his vehicle.

The incident happened this morning on the A1 southbound at Colsterworth.

Fire crews from Grantham and Corby Glen were called out to the incident at 7.50am.

But it had already been put out by its driver using bottles of water by the time they arrived.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue say fire caused severe damage to rear brakes on the refuse lorry.

The cause of the fire has been blamed on faults within the brake system.

There were no reports of any traffic delays.
