  But I agree with 'TruthtoPower' - every time an HGV prangs the bridge or busts up the protective bollards due to cutting the corner they cause chaos and damage. It would be nice to know if the town gets any recompense from their ineptitude and whether the drivers just carry on regardless without having to at least have to go on a course.

  Are these lorry drivers blind or do they just never bother to measure the height of their loads? Should be stiffer penalties for this kind of negligence which not only causes chaos for road users but also for rail users since the bridges often have to be closed and checked for structural damage.
