Corby Glen man assaulted doorman in Red Lion pub, Bourne
A man who assaulted a doorman at a Bourne pub, has been fined and ordered to undertake rehabilitation by magistrates in Boston.
Luke Garner, 30, of Tanners Lane in Corby Glen, who admitted assault by beating was said to have been 'very loud and rowdy' in the Red Lion and refused to 'calm down' when he was asked to by doorman Bernardo Joao on October 22.
Marie Stace, prosecuting, said Garner swore at Mr Joao and told him to 'mind his own business' and when asked to leave the premises, punched Mr Joao in the face.
She said members of the public came to his aid and to restrain Garner until the police arrived and he was arrested.
Ms Stace said he admitted the offence to the police and agreed he could have walked away from it, adding that he had a previous assault conviction less than a year ago in November 2020.
Michael Alexander, mitigating, said Garner had some 'fairly substantial injuries himself' and that he had a tooth knocked out and added that he had 'largely kept out of trouble through his life'.
After hearing from the probation service, the magistrates ordered Garner to undertake 10 rehabilitation days and to do the 'Thinking Skills' programme.
He was also fined £300 and ordered to pay £100 compensation to Mr Joao and a total of £170 in court costs and charges.
