Margaret Thatcher statue in Grantham vandalised with paint and Communist hammer and sickle symbol
The recently-installed Margaret Thatcher statue in Grantham has been vandalised again.
The statue of the former Prime Minister, who was born in the town, was lowered onto the plinth in St Peter's Hill just two weeks ago and eggs were thrown at it the same day. A man has since been fined for that attack.
Now the statue has been vandalised again. Someone has thrown red paint at it and a Communist hammer and sickle symbol has been daubed onto the fencing surrounding the base, which is intended to deter such attacks.
South Kesteven District Council has condemned the attack and Lincolnshire Police is investigating.
