Grantham Matalan reopens following coronavirus lockdown
Matalan has reopened its Grantham store.
Based on Dysart Retail Park, the clothing retailer is one of 175 stores that reopened on May 28.
Employees will be provided with full PPE and the large car park will be used to ensure entering customers can socially distance.
Matalan is open to shoppers between 9am and 8pm Monday to Saturday, with reduced hours of 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.
On Facebook, the Grantham branch said: "Good news, this store is now open!
"Following our decision to close our stores almost eight weeks ago, we’ve been working tirelessly on preparing our stores for reopening with enhanced health and safety measures and strict social distancing guidelines to ensure we offer the safest shopping environment for you.
"Given the change in government guidance on 1st May to include Homeware as essential retail in England, we are now pleased to inform you that this store is now open."
In a wider statement on the company's website, Matalan said: "Following the successful phased re-opening of a number of stores over the past few weeks, we are delighted to have now re-opened 175 of our stores across England and Northern Ireland.
"Our priority is to protect both our colleagues and our customers’ safety in every store and we have received very positive comments from both colleagues and customers on the new safety measures in place in each store.
"The re-opening of these stores follows rigorous in-store testing and consultation with industry bodies, our colleagues and our customers.
"Our new enhanced health and safety measures will ensure that every open Matalan store will be fully compliant with social distancing rules, with employees trained appropriately and provided with full PPE.
"We are confident that these safety measures are fully compliant with the guidance provided by the UK Government, Northern Ireland Executive, Public Health England and the Department of Health."
