This fabulous snap is of the YMCA (Grantham) players performing the play ‘The Creaking Chair’ in the former church hall off Castlegate.

Seated in the wheelchair is playwright Howard Imber, who went on to write for many famous faces, including Bob Monkhouse, Roy Hudd, Lennie Bennett, Jim Bowen and fellow Grantham-born man Nicholas Parsons.

Also pictured mid-performance are, standing from left - Alan Papworth, Laurie Ringrose, Janet Wilson, Vin Leeman and Roy Clark, the latter of whom became a guitarist in local rock group The Vagabonds.

Thanks again to regular Memory Lane contributor Stan Matthews, who kindly provided us with the photograph and details.
