Grantham mother and daughter donate hair to Little Princess Trust charity and raise over £680
A mother and daughter from Grantham donated their hair to a charity, raising over £600 in the process.
Gemma Chadwick, 39, and her daughter Etta both had over 10 inches of hair cut off this week in aid of the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides wigs for children with cancer.
The pair have also raised over £680 so far in aid of the charity, with Gemma saying that she was “so proud” of her seven-year-old.
They had their hair cut at Blunt by Daniel Hair and Beauty Salon in Swinegate by Naomi and Antonia.
Gemma, who runs online design and textile business, ‘Jimjam designs’ said: “It started off that Etta asked to have her hair cut short and didn’t want it to go to waste.
“I told her about The Little Princess trust and what they did and she loved the idea of donating her hair.
“She kept growing it for a few more months so we could donate as much as possible. I also had long hair so thought I’d join her for a bit of support.
“I’m so proud of her. She was so calm about it all. She loves her new shorter hair and happy she can make a difference to another boy or girl.”
It was Etta’s first trip to the hairdressers since she was a baby, and her mum described her as “a superstar”.

Gemma added: “Our longest lengths of hair are around 12.5 inches for Etta and 14 inches for me, which is amazing.
“Thank you so much to everyone that’s donated.
“So far we’ve raised £687 which will pretty much pay for a wig to be made, styled and fitted for a child.”
