A group of volunteers who have just finished training to become family support volunteers in Grantham, are looking forward to making a difference in their local community.

Home-Start Lincolnshire’s newest group of volunteers have successfully completed their preparation training - allowing them to provide support for local families.

Home-Start provides support for families through informal, family friendly activities including home visits, organised trips, outings and events.

The new group of volunteers will give just a few hours a week of their time to a family in need to help ‘transform a life’.

All volunteers undergo training to prepare them for their first visit and will continue to receive valuable training and support throughout their time with Home-Start.

Home-Start Lincolnshire gives a real insight into the issues facing families today and helps boost volunteers confidence and knowledge.

Emma Haisman, from Home-Start Lincolnshire said: “The training offered and volunteering experience can be a fantastic stepping stone into further education or a career in social care.

“We are always looking for new volunteers, so if you are a good listener, have parenting experience and can spare two to three hours a week, whatever your age - Home-Start Lincolnshire would love to hear from you.”

Home-Start Lincolnshire is currently looking to recruit more volunteers in Grantham for their next course. The sessions will run once a week for six consecutive weeks - starting in September.

Anyone interested in becoming a home-visiting volunteer, should contact Home-Start Lincolnshire on 01507 308030 or e-mail enquiries@home-startlincolnshire.co.uk
