New plans from Air Ambulance Service for old Aldi supermarket in Grantham revealed

A former Grantham supermarket could have a new occupant following the submission of a planning application.

The Air Ambulance Service has submitted a proposal to use the old Aldi in South Parade as a retail store with a cafe.

The application states that the Air Ambulance Service is applying for permission as a lessee, meaning it would lease the site.

Aldi moved to a brand new store on the corner of Harlaxton Road and Trent Road back in March 2022, with Team GB gymnastics hero Sam Oldham cutting the ribbon.

The South Parade site was later listed on the market by estate agents Lamb & Swift for offers in excess of £1,300,000.

The Rightmove listing for the site states that it is currently under offer.

When asked for more details about the application and future plans for the site, spokesperson for the Air Ambulance Service said: “We don’t have any further information or confirmation at the moment.”

The application does not include building work or a change of use to the site.

It states that the proposed use of the building will be a “retail store selling furniture, white goods, household goods and clothing with ancillary cafe - no cooking will take place on the premises”.
