Ropsley man cycling 20 miles each day of August for Prostate Cancer UK and Brain Tumour Research
A Ropsley man is cycling 20 miles per day for the entire month of August to raise money for two charities.
Nigel Earth, 59, will cycle over 600 miles in August in support of Prostate Cancer UK and Brain Tumour Research.
The medication delivery driver is dedicating the 31st day of the month to Clive, one of his delivery customers who very recently died of cancer.
As well as online donations, money is being collected at St Peter’s Hill Pharmacy where Nigel works.
In February, Nigel raised £2,222 for Sands, a stillbirth and neonatal death charity, by running two miles a day throughout the month.
Nigel’s wife Sally said: “He loves a challenge and wants to bring awareness to these charities as he has had friends affected by both conditions in the past.
“He couldn’t choose [between the charities] so decided to do 10 miles a day for each.”
Nigel will be completing the challenge in the lanes and roads around Ropsley and the surrounding villages. One weekend he will cycle to his mum’s in Spalding.
On weekdays, he will cycle 10 miles in the morning before work and 10 miles after he finishes.
Sally continued: “He has been warming up over this month and managed about 413, so he has a way to go to push for the 1000+ km he needs to cover in August!
“And the weather looks a bit unpleasant to cycle for August!
“He has lots of support and encouragement, so he will be good for 600 miles I’m sure, and my daughter is going to tag along and I might try to keep up a few days just for fun.”
Nigel is raising money online for Prostate Cancer UK and Brain Tumour Research.
He is aiming to raise £300 for each charity.
