Lincolnshire Police have not identified any member of the force involved in making a threat to confiscate a bike from a Grantham four-year-old.

During their journey to school on Monday, March 2, Dale Lindley said he and his daughter Sophie, 4, were stopped by a police officer who warned that if Sophie continued to ride her bicycle on the pavement it would be confiscated.

In an exclusive statement to the Journal, Grantham chief inspector Chris Davison said: “After a thorough investigation we have found no evidence that the person who dealt with the gentleman and young girl was a Lincolnshire Police officer or member of staff.

“We are still exploring other possibilities.”
