Pictures show chaos after serious accident between car and bus

One lane on each carriageway of the A1 has been reopened between the A151 at Colsterworth and B668 at South Witham following a serious collision involving a coach and car.

The accident was reported at 1.15pm and involved a car and a single decker red bus. The bus was travelling on the southbound side of the carriageway, while the car was on the northbound carriageway.

A man, believed to be the driver of the car, was flown to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham in a serious condition.

Police confirmed the bus was carrying passengers but none were reported injured. It is unclear how many people were on the bus.

Emergency services remain at the scene.
