Pirates seen marauding around Grantham town centre in search of a winning bounty
Dozens of pirates were seen marauding around Grantham town centre on Sunday afternoon in search of a winning bounty.
The annual treasure Hunt hosted by Grantham Sunrise Rotary Club started from the Angel and Royal hotel, with people in search of treasure in pirate costume. They received treasure hunt maps, scavenger search lists and quiz questions, as they searched for the answers.
Pictures of pirates with clues underneath were found in business and shop windows all around town, and the merry band set off in sweltering heat. Two hours later they returned from the fun swashbuckling trail with the answers and scavenger bags full ready for judging.
Organiser Sunriser Kevin Hale said: “This was a wonderful community fun event for the people of the town, and it was lovely to see so many people having a really good time, even though there was an absolute downpour.”
The winning team was 'The Toublesome Ones' with the The Pirateers in second place and The Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in third.
Sunrise president Lez Jones thanked Kevin for all his hard work and also the shops and businesses that took part in the event.
He presented the winners with their prizes which included shopping vouchers for Morrisons and tubs of chocolates. He said everyone is looking forward to the challenge again next year.
