Plan for Subway next to KFC in Grantham deferred over parking concerns
Plans to build two new retail units, including a Subway, on land next to the KFC restaurant and drive-thru on the corner of Springfield Road and Harlaxton Road in Grantham have been deferred.
The application for two retail units totalling 223 sq m, was put forward by Grantham Investments and recommended for approval by South Kesteven District Council’s planning officers.
However, members of the development control committee raised concerns.
District councillor for the Springfield ward Adam Stokes said: “The major issue for me is the amount of car parking. KFC can be extremely busy and extremely full, and adding two additional shops on to it is going to cause an absolute nightmare.”
The plans will now go back to the applicants to provide more information on car parking, as well as in relation to the loading of HGVs.
