Plan to build eight new homes off busy Grantham road
An application to convert a former office building and builders yard in South Parade, Grantham, to create two flats and six houses has been submitted.
The building currently used as offices to the front of the site is Grade II-listed and historically known as Spittlegate Lodge.
The rear of the site is currently vacant, but was previously utilised as a builders yard.
Submitted by Mr David Moore, the plan involves removing the existing storage buildings to create two two-bedroom flats; two semi-detached, two-bedroom houses; and four, three-bedroom, terraced houses.
The car park, with capacity for 12 vehicles, will be retained and distributed between the properties.
According to the applicant, green space and planted areas would be maximised to help to soften the development and create a welcoming environment.
The applicant said: “We feel the proposed development is completely sympathetic and appropriate to the site and the wider environment with particular care taken with the proposed conversion of the existing listed building.
“The new build houses proposed for the site do not have any detrimental effect on the listed building or the existing neighbouring properties.
“Lastly, we feel the transformation from a redundant builders yard to an attractive residential development can only be viewed as a positive change for this area of the town.”
