Plan to turn The Trickling Tap into whisky/gin lounge bar

The Trickling Tap alcoholic liquor retail store at 14 Market Place, Grantham, could be turned into a gin and whisky lounge/bar with bistro style food and bottle shop.

Applicant Karen Adams has told South Kesteven District Council: "The emphasis is changing from off sales to on sales. There will be sofas, armchairs/chairs and tables seating around 35 people in the front retail space and seating for around 10 to 12 people in the side retail space. There will also be pavement seating for eight people, weather permitting."

The 27-seater upstairs restaurant (Market View) is now closed and would be used only for private meetings, tasting events and cocktail classes. Staff numbers would increase from two full-time and a part-timer to three full-time and four part-time staff.

The current bar, the Tap & Tonic, which has a separate entrance, is a cocktail lounge, which will remain unaltered. There would be no building work, only interior decoration, and new signs and window graphics on the front of the property, the application added.
