Grantham police cadets receive attestation certificate and help the mayor’s annual Christmas bikers charity event
Police cadets followed their attestation ceremony by helping out with a Christmas toy run.
On Wednesday November 22, a group of police cadets in Grantham received their attestation certificates which means they have completed basic training learning about police powers and procedures.
This includes stop search and custody procedure, the impact of crime, social issues, use of police radios, the phonetic alphabet and much more.
Much of this learning is done through role playing different scenarios.
The Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) programme operates in every force across the UK and cadets are welcomed, whether they have an interest in the police or not.
Tony Gallagher, an officer for Lincolnshire Police, said: “We want to give all young people a chance to be heard, support their community, and develop skills to become fantastic citizens in a fun, friendly and exciting way.
“There is nothing else like the VPC - it is a unique experience for young people to become part of the policing family for many years.”
The cadets went on to help the community on Sunday by supporting the mayor’s office with the annual Christmas Bikers Run at the Meres Leisure Centre.
Over 300 bikers attended this event, delivering gifts for children in need.
Hundreds of gifts were received and in the weeks leading up to Christmas will be distributed to children in hospital and those who otherwise would not be receiving a gift this year.
