Police carrying riot shields sent in force to Billingborough

Police wearing helmets and carrying riot shields were deployed in force to Billingborough yesterday.

The public safety unit (PSU) was sent to Brewery Lane in the village following concern for the safety of a man. The man was arrested and was treated by paramedics.

Supt Phil Vickers, of Lincolnshire Police, said the level of response was necessary. On Twitter, he said: “Officers need to be protected from harm whilst helping others - a safe conclusion for all at this incident.”
