Lincolnshire Police stop overweight vehicle as it ‘crawled’ up the A1 near Grantham




Police stopped a vehicle on the A1 that was 38 per cent over the maximum weight.

Lincolnshire Police’s Road Policing Unit stopped the vehicle while it was “crawling” up the A1 near Grantham yesterday (Thursday).

The vehicle weighed in at 4.8 tonnes, which is 38 per cent over its gross vehicle weight, the maximum load that can be carried safely on the road.

The overweight vehicle was stopped by officers.

The driver was reported for summons and the vehicle was prohibited until a more suitable means of transport was arranged.
