Poll shows most people agree with critical Grantham TikTok
The majority of people agree with a recent TikTok which criticised Grantham, according to a Journal poll.
Last week, a video posted by TikTokker M.combe07, which highlighted some of the negative aspects of town, gained thousands of views.
It was featured in his series called ‘The most tired area in the UK?’, and he described the town as “dead”, noting the lack of shops in the high street.
South Kesteven District Councillor Tim Harrison hit back at the TikTok with his own video, which showed Grantham in a more positive light.
The Journal ran a poll last weekend, asking people if they agreed with the TikTok’s view of the town, with 78 per cent answering ‘yes’.
Readers also offered their views on the matter via the comments section on Facebook.
Thomas Lyons Napier said: “His assessment leaned towards the negative. He should have mentioned the positives to be unbiased.”
While Ben Gliddon commented: “Spot on. Grantham is dire.
“Unless you want a hairdresser, charity shop, pub or cafe, you're better off elsewhere.”
Diane Gee said: “I love our town and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else but he is right with the first impression being not a great place.
“You can’t argue with what he said about what he saw! All the approaches into the town centre look very drab and unkept.
“Come on SKDC we deserve better. Don’t get me started on the rubbish Christmas lights.”
