Popular Grantham balloon shop relocates to prime spot

A popular balloon shop has relocated to a new prime spot in the town centre after demand for its services increased.

The Party Balloon Shop, was officially opened by councillor Helen Goral, cabinet member for growth and communications, at their new premises at 2 Westgate, last Tuesday.

The shop, which was originally opened in December 2016 by owner Danushka Punchihewa, moved from their previous premises on Wharf Road this week.

What began as just balloon decorations two years ago rapidly expanded to include corporate events, venue dressings, wedding packages, children’s play and parties.

As business increased, Danushka partnered with Louise Wilks, who owns a wedding and special occasions showroom in Spalding called L&L Events UK, to become sister companies.

They are now able to offer a total in-house service to customers.

Danushka said: “We wanted to create somewhere which had everything under one roof. Business has been growing from the start. We have built on our customer confidence and have attracted new customers based on the positive feedback.

“Product quality and the service provided is kept at a high standard and maintained throughout to differentiate the products against other high street competitors.

“The new premises in Westgate is an area with more footfall and many shoppers use this lane, which has different other small businesses.”

The pair have exciting plans for the future.

Danushka added: “There is much more space available to carry out other related activities for the business at our new premises. We have a new Kids Zone with children’s soft play area, party room for kids parties and a snacks room. There is a craft room for activities such as pottery painting and other craft events.

“There is also dedicated area for weddings with displays and consultation room and there will be additional products and services to be introduced in the future.”
