Grantham primary school Bluecoat will not reopen to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 on Monday
Bluecoat Meres Primary School will not reopen to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children on Monday.
However, they will continue to teach the children whose parents are key workers or fall into the vulnerable category.
This comes after the Prime Minister revealed plans to begin phasing the return of primary school pupils, with the strategy drawing criticism from teachers’ unions.
Headteachers in Grantham recently spoke out after other local primary schools decided that it would not be safe to reopen to the select year groups next week.
Mark Fowle, interim CEO of Bluecoat Meres, said: "The Academy will continue with its provision for children of key workers and vulnerable families from Monday 1 June.
"Regarding the re-opening of the Academy for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 children from 1 June; Directors have considered a number of points relating to both the local and national situation and have decided that they do not feel that it is appropriate to re-open the Academy from 1 June.
"The duty of care to our children and staff remains their highest priority. Directors will review the situation in the next week and will consider a possible phased re-opening from Monday 8 June.
"At the present time there have been no confirmed cases of Coronavirus that we are aware of amongst the children or staff that attend either the Primary or Secondary Academy."
