Proposed community diagnostics centre would provide MRI and CT scans in Grantham

A new community diagnostics centre to provide MRI and CT scans could be added in Grantham.

An application, submitted by United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT), seeks permission to add new modular diagnostic units at Hatchery House off Gonerby Road.

In 2020, the site was converted for healthcare use and temporary healthcare trailer units were added.

ULHT is currently working in partnership with site owners Moy Park to add a new modular building, which would offer CT and MRI scanning at the facility.

Claire Lloyd, Community Diagnostic Centre programme lead at ULHT, said: “The Community Diagnostic Centre programme has supported more than 61,400 diagnostic tests for people from across Lincolnshire since activity began in November 2021.

“Patients have spoken very positively about their experiences of visiting Gonerby Road, and we are very proud of the difference we are making to support them with improved choice and timely access to the tests they need within their care.

“Working in partnership with site owners Moy Park, we hope to continue to build on our success by expanding with a new modular building to provide CT and MRI scanning at the facility for the first time.

“This will be in addition to the diagnostic facilities already available, including x-ray, non-obstetric ultrasound, echocardiogram, diabetic eye screening and abdominal aortic aneurysm screening.”

If successful, ULHT hopes to deliver the plans by spring 2024.

This would include the removal of some trailers which have previously been stored on the site to improve the environment around the centre.

Claire added: “These plans reflect the continued investment in CDCs by the NHS in Lincolnshire, alongside a further £38 million in funding from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for the development of two new CDCs in Skegness and Lincoln during 2024.”
