Waggy Tails dog grooming salon in Bingham is owner's second salon

A new dog grooming salon has opened after the owner spotted a gap in the market.

Waggy Tails Dog Grooming and Services, owned by Bella Bidmead, has opened a second salon on Long Acre, Bingham.

The new Waggy Tails groomers builds on the success of the business’ Tollerton salon.

Bella said: “The high street in Bingham is obviously really popular, there’s always just hustle and bustle going off there.

“It is really nice with all the surrounding shops but the only thing that was missing was a dog grooming salon.

“I just kept thinking, one of these days someone’s going to open a grooming salon and I’m going to kick myself.”

Bella has worked professionally with dogs for many years and started her business, initially offering pet-sitting and dog walking, in 2014.

She then qualified as a dog groomer in 2015 and opened her first shop in Tollerton.

The new premises have come together quickly with the hard work of Bella and her family and just five weeks after she let the shop it is open for business.

A well-attended open day was held, welcoming visitors and their four-legged friends to look around the new salon — complete with cupcakes.

Bella added: “It’s just all happened so quickly. I just said if I don’t do it now someone else is going to do it for me, so we bit the bullet.

“We are that busy in Tollerton, with six dog groomers. We’re all busy and we’re all fully booked.

“There’s a different type of market to target in Bingham, there’s just dogs everywhere — a lot of the cafés and the pubs are all dog-friendly. I just thought it was a perfect place to do it really because there wasn’t a dog grooming salon already.”

Bella is joined by groomer Angel Hart to offer a full range of services at the new salon.

Bella said: “We do hand stripping, de-shedding and brushing sessions for dogs like golden retrievers and Labradors, full grooms to show standards or pet standards, and puppy inductions.

“As soon as they’ve had their second lot of injections they can come for puppy intro grooms to introduce them to the grooming process, which is really important, especially for cockapoos and cavapoos that need to come every six to eight weeks when they’re older. It is a little bit like a puppy university. That’s what we call it for them, to teach them how to do it all.

“We also do walk in nail clips as well.”

The salon is now open for appointments, and more information is available on the Waggy Tails website or Facebook page.
