A village will host an event to commemorate its war veterans on Remembrance Day.

The Friendly Bench in Bottesford is hosting an event on Saturday November 11 between 12pm and 1pm that will pay respect to the village’s war veterans.

Neil Fortey from Bottesford Local History Society will deliver a talk to commemorate the individuals from the village who have served their country.

The Friendly Bench will be decorated with an exhibit created by the children of Bottesford Primary School, including hand-coloured silhouettes that will pay homage to the community's wartime heroes.

There will also be a handmade woollen poppy display, crafted by people from across the Bottesford community.

Refreshments will be provided. In the event of bad weather, the event will relocate into Warwick Flats.

The Friendly Bench, founded in 2018 by Lyndsey Young aims to tackle loneliness and social isolation.
