Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven donates hundreds to good causes

Seven local charities and community organisations joined Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven for a cheque presentation last week.

Money raised from the sixteenth annual charity golf day, which was held at Belton Park in June, was distributed by immediate past president Sue Kinder to seven organisations, including Inspire Plus, LIVES, King’s School, Belvoir Cricket and Countryside Trust, Multiple Sclerosis Grantham and Sleaford and the Grantham Journal Children’s Fund.

The British Lung Foundation received the highest donation totalling £2,500 at the presentation at the Urban Hotel, Grantham, last Wednesday evening.

A small amount from the £4,500 raised was set aside for the future provision of a defibrilllator in Grantham.

Darren Bicknell, who leads the Belvoir Cricket & Countryside Trust, said: “We were delighted to be supported by Rotary and will use this award to make a real difference.”

Inspire+ operations manager Chris Graves added: “We could not do what we do without donations from local organisations.

“The donation from the Rotary Club has gone towards the Mini Olympics this year, an event that saw over 2000 young people from 70 local primary schools get their first experience of a large sporting event.”

Organiser Mike Charity expressed his thanks to all the competitors and sponsors.
