RSPCA reveals incredible transformation of neglected dogs found near Grantham
Eight dogs who were dumped near Grantham last week are barely recognisable after having piles of matted, dirty hair clipped off.
Four Newfoundlands, two cockapoos and two Lhasa-apsos were found dumped in Redmile, Vale of Belvoir, last Tuesday.
The RSPCA continues to appeal for information but the charity has taken the animals into their care and revealed their remarkable transformation thanks to RSPCA staff and some generous local groomers.
RSPCA Inspector Kate Burris who collected the dogs in Redmile said: “It is absolutely heartbreaking to see the condition these dogs were left in - and how unnecessary leaving them in this state was.
“They are such lovely friendly dogs, they deserve to be groomed and looked after properly, if no one comes forward we will be rehoming these dogs and I am confident they will find a home that shows them the love and attention they deserve.
“One of the dogs - Bella - had 7.3 kilos of fur removed from her.
“The work of RSPCA Radcliffe has been phenomenal in treating these dogs - they were able to shave the four Newfoundlands but their clippers were literally blunt and we were all exhausted by the end.
“Amazingly a local groomers - Kennelgate in Gamston - stepped in to help and sorted the two Lhasa-apsos and one of the cockapoos totally free of charge. It’s been a real team effort to get these dogs sorted but it has all paid off in the end.”
“We hope that a member of the public may recognise these dogs or have some information for us, if so they can contact our inspectorate appeal line in confidence on 0300 123 8018.”
The four Newfoundlands have been named Bella, Belinda, Beryl and Bob.
The two Lhasa-apsos have been named Lady and Lola and the two Cockapoos Charlie and Louie.
