Rudy’s Run and torchlight procession returning this year in aid of St Barnabas Hospice

A hospice is re-launching its popular festive fundraising event and encouraging primary schools and other groups to get involved.

Rudy's Run, from St Barnabas Hospice, is an initiative where you can run, dance or prance to raise money for the charity over the festive period.

The event is perfect for primary schools, sports groups and community groups, and will make a difference by raising money for the charity to provide hospice care.

It is free for groups to sign up, with St Barnabas providing everything that you will need to take part.

This includes Rudy’s accessories (antlers for each child, a Santa costume for one lucky teacher/group leader), letters to send to parents, a guide to set up Just Giving, and a digital activity pack with games, recipes, crafts and more.

A St Barnabas spokesperson said: “This year our activity pack is better than ever, filled with fun festive crafts for all the children.

“We know that Christmas is a busy time, which is why we are letting you know about this exciting opportunity now and why we have made Rudy’s Run as hassle free as possible.

“Participation is completely free of charge. All we ask is that each child tries to raise £3 in sponsorship money to support the work of our hospice.”

To get involved, email fundraising@stbarnabashospice.co.uk or call 01522 540300.

St Barnabas will also be holding its annual torchlight procession in the uphill area of Lincoln on Tuesday November 21.

The Procession will be led by the RAF Waddington Pipe band, with supporters holding flaming torches and light-up lanterns.

Together, they will walk the route from Clayton’s Sports Ground to Lincoln Cathedral, with a brief stop at the hospice’s Inpatient unit on Nettleham Road.

The Torchlight Procession is free to attend, but advanced booking is advised.
