Darren Mitchell, chair of governors, said: “Following applications from a strong field, the governing body was delighted to appoint Mrs Lindsay Smith as substantive headteacher at Cliffedale Primary School.

“Mrs Smith brings enormous passion to the role and understands the important position of the school within the local community.”

She has over 25 years’ teaching experience. She trained and taught in Nottinghamshire before moving to Grantham in 2006.

Before joining Cliffedale, she worked at Belton Lane Primary School, where she was an assistant headteacher.

Mrs Smith added: “I am thrilled to be appointed as the next headteacher [at Cliffedale]. Cliffedale holds a special place in my heart, both as a member of the team and as a former parent. It is a privilege to work with our amazing children, staff and governors.

“It is our role as educators and leaders to inspire, motivate and empower others, drawing on support provided by the school community to create an engaging, exciting and loving learning environment.

“Cliffedale occupies a unique position at the heart of the community and as a member of staff, a member of the local community and a former parent I feel passionate about building on this significant achievement.

“Cliffedale continually strives for academic excellence, but also aims to develop its young people to be citizens of the world with open, enquiring minds.”
