Priory Ruskin fund-raiser will help charity buy lifesaving equipment

A Grantham school has raised more than £1,000 for a vital emergency service after hosting a Joules sale.

Priory Ruskin Academy held its first ever Joules sale recently, featuring seconds and returns stock. It drew in people from across the community and attracted visitors who were queuing up to get in.

All proceeds from ticket sales went directly to LIVES, the Lincolnshire charity whose local volunteers provide vital care in those first critical moments before the ambulance service arrives on scene. The sale raised a total of £1,039 to support LIVES work.

Nikki Silver, CEO of LIVES, said: “We’re delighted that the Joules Seconds event at Ruskin Academy raised such a significant amount for LIVES. In 2017 our responders helped 21,500 people in a medical emergency right across the county, getting there fast to deliver immediate care that saves lives.

"These very valuable donations help our responders stay on the road and mean we can keep them trained and kitted out with lifesaving equipment.”

Mrs Geeson, who managed the event, said: “It was wonderful to see so many visitors in the academy enjoying an evening of shopping but also contributing to such a valuable local charity. I am delighted with the total amount raised. Thanks to everyone who supported us."
